You pick the colors, and we hang them. Our photos show two looks. One is warm white on every edge, a soft, even glow that outlines the whole shape of the house. The other is red and white, alternating bulb by bulb like a candy cane, which stands out from far down the street. The bulbs in those photos are the large C9 style, big enough to read clearly on a long roofline.
A mix takes a little planning. Red and white can alternate one bulb at a time, the way our roof edge photos show. Or each line can take one color, such as white along the gutters and red up the peaks. Tell us what you have in mind when you call, and we lay out the pattern with you before anything goes up, so the colors land where you pictured them.
Whatever the colors, the strands have to be made for outdoors. NFPA notes that some lights are made for indoor or outdoor use, but not both. CPSC says to use lights tested by a nationally recognized testing lab, and its holiday alert explains that UL's red holographic label means indoor and outdoor use, while the green one means indoor only. ENERGY STAR says LED light strings that earn its label use about 70 percent less energy than incandescent strings and stay cool to the touch. With older incandescent sets, CPSC says never to connect more than three together.
That comes down to your house and your taste. Warm white gives a soft glow that traces the shape of the roof. Red and white is bolder and reads like a candy cane from the street. Our gallery shows both, so you can picture each one on a house like yours.
Yes. You can alternate red and white bulb by bulb, or give each line one color, like white on the gutters and red up the peaks. We plan the pattern with you before anything goes up.
ENERGY STAR says LED light strings that earn its label use about 70 percent less energy than incandescent strings, hold up better since they have no filament or glass, and stay cool to the touch. ESFI also points to LEDs because they run cooler. With older incandescent sets, CPSC says never to connect more than three together.
Yes. The colors are your call every season. Since we store your lights after takedown, let us know early if you want a new look so we can plan it before your install date.
